Product Overview
ATOUN MODEL Y was a wearable powered assist suit developed by ATOUN, a former Panasonic group company. Sensors detected movement of the wearer’s torso and controlled motors at the hips to assist bending and rising during material-handling tasks. The 4.4 kg production model replaced an earlier metal structure with a resin frame and was introduced commercially in Japan in 2018, with later trials and deployments in logistics, construction, recycling and care settings. Panasonic described the device as a wearable robot for lowering the physical load on the waist when lifting objects from near floor level. ATOUN ceased operations in 2022, so this directory entry treats MODEL Y as a historically important discontinued industrial exoskeleton rather than a currently supported product.
